Wait, with lasers? Those things that distract cats?
Swiss physicist Jean-Pierre Wolf, who’s definitely not trying to take to over the wold, is working on a way to alter the weather using lasers.
This would be the cleaner of cloud seeding, which sounds nasty, and is nasty, but for non-sexual reasons.
Cloud seeding was used in the 2008 Olympics to “seed” the clouds (ew) by spraying the atmosphere with chemicals (double ew).
These lasers would induce condensation in order to form clouds, which is better than shining it directly into the eyes of children.
Although it’s still early on in the research, these lasers could potentially give water to rain deprived locations, and stop rainfall from occurring in locales that experience flooding regularly.
If you’re not jazzed about how cool this science is, know that these lasers can possibly trigger lightning in clouds for
Jean-Pierre is Zeus, lord of Olympus, harbinger of firebolts.
I for one am very excited to see where how technology develops over time.
