Well, at least that’s better than the engine failing.
A woman from New Jersey named Cary David is suing United Airlines for $5 million but she has a VERY good reason — her in-flight DirecTV stopped working!
Before you roll your eyes, keep in mind that she paid an entire $7.99 for four hours of service that only lasted ten minutes. So I guess she’s asking for her $7.99 back plus $4,999,992.01 for pain and suffering. Sounds reasonable to me. (OK, that last part’s not true.)
Actually, it’s a class-action lawsuit, so the 5 mill isn’t just for David. She’s filed on behalf of other people who may have gotten screwed in the same way.
David was on a flight to Puerto Rico and she claims that it was never properly explained to her that Wi-Fi only works in the continental U.S.
United has filed papers to have the case dismissed.
Hey, at least David still got better reception than cable. (sfx: rim shot)
